In 2008, James Weimann and Deming Maclise, two Seattleites with a knack for creating lively spaces, teamed up and opened Bastille Café & Bar, their first venture together.

Two years later the duo opened Poquitos, a Mexican restaurant in Capitol Hill, after a similar brainstorming and sourcing trip to Mexico and beyond. Poquitos was followed by Macleod’s, a Scottish pub; Rhein Haus, a 10,000 square-foot bier hall with indoor bocce ball courts; and Stoneburner, a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant with a focus on stone-hearth cooking. Rhein Haus locations followed in Denver (2015), Tacoma (2017), and Leavenworth (2018) and a second outpost of Poquitos opened in Bothell in March 2018. Seaplane Kitchen & Bar followed later that year opening in Kenmore, Washington.
